Welcome back to another round of Kindle Deals and (a few) great Amazon deals. The blog has been silent for the last ten days or so while I was off solving mysteries, but now that the mystery has been solved, we are back in business!
Set Free: Discover Forgiveness Amidst Murder and Betrayal by Stephen Owens: $.99 This is an almost unbelievable true story about an incident that literally tore a family apart, and the grace of God and forgiveness that happened years later. Stephen Owen’s mom hired a hit-man to kill Stephen’s dad years ago, and Stephen was the one that found him right before he died. How could forgiveness – or anything good – ever come out of a situation like that?!
Miracles: The Credibility of the New Testament Accounts, by Craig S. Keener, $37.99 Yep, you read that price correctly – this is a $37.99 book, and so is not technically a Kindle deal in that way. However, this is an excellent book and one of the most important Christian books of the last 25 years. In this 1248 page book, Craig Keener explores miracles and the supernatural, both in the Bible and outside of the Bible. He has hundreds of testimonies of actual, modern day miracles that have occurred, and strongly refutes the idea/belief that the miracles of no longer happen. Highly recommended, especially for the scholarly types. Once and for all, this book refutes the claim of Hume and other skeptics that miracles are impossible.
Evidence for God: 50 Arguments for Faith from the Bible, History, Philosophy and Science by William Dembski and Michael Licona: $2.99 274 pages of excellent apologetics material from great writers like Darrell Bock, Phillip Johnson, Paul Copan, Gary Habermas, Craig Blomberg, Dan Wallace and more. Highly recommended, and one I will be purchasing also!
Sex and The Supremacy of Christ by John Piper, $3.99 Yes – more John Piper, and I don’t apologize for it. He is the best, and this is a well needed book that promotes a biblical understanding of sex that is joyful AND truthful. Also includes contributions from Al Mohler, Justin Taylor, C.J Mahaney, Carolyn Mahaney, Mark Dever and more.
The Baker Compact Bible Dictionary, by Tremper Longman: $1.99 – A Bible dictionary is an excellent tool to help one understand things in the Bible that might not be immediately clear. This particular dictionary, edited well by Tremper Longman, is almost 400 pages, and a great bargain at $1.99!
When There are no Easy Answers: Thinking Differently About God, Suffering and Evil by John S. Feinberg: $1.99 John Feinberg is probably the top living Christian Ethics expert today. His is an excellent and thoughtful writer, and has had to endure much suffering personally, and inside his family. In this work, he looks at evil and suffering head-on and offers a solid answer to the age old question: How can a good and all powerful God still allow evil and suffering?
The Collected Letters of C.S. Lewis, Volume 1: $1.99 – I’m a HUGE fan of C.S. Lewis, and this is a collection of over 1000 pages of his early letters. Part 2 is also available for $1.99, and probably the best of the collection, Volume 3, is quite a bit more expensive, but also longer (1800+ pages) and more concerned with Narnia than the first two.
Rid of My Disgrace: Hope and Healing for Victims of Sexual Assault, by Lindsay and Justin Holcombe: $2.99 – This is the best book I know of for those who have been sexually assaulted, or are helping out a friend or family member that has been sexually assaulted. Comforting, hopeful and just plain real.
You guys seem to love Spurgeon, and here is 450 pages of his best stuff for only $.99 ! Lectures to My Students, By Charles Haddon Spurgeon.
