Christian Books and Music:

One of the best writers to ever live!

One of the best writers to ever live!

Featured Book of the Day: A Life Observed, A Spiritual Biography of C.S. Lewis  By Devin Brown:
$1.99   C.S. Lewis is one of my heroes. He is absolutely one of the best writers and wordsmiths I have ever encountered – both in his amazing fiction (Narnia and the criminally underrated Space Trilogy) and in his excellent nonfiction. His words, and the way he crafts them, move me beyond almost any other writer. While I don’t agree with 100 percent of his theology (he was a a bit too close to being a universalist for my taste, but not all the way there…), he is nonetheless a stalwart of apologetics and theology and writes with a refreshing authenticity that was not characteristic of his time. GET THIS BOOK, as Devin Brown has done a credible job of telling the life story of Lewis, and why he still matters today.

FREEBIE OF THE DAY: The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer: FREE!  What?! You HAVEN’T read this book?!  It is one of the greatest Christian books of the last 500 years! Stop what you are doing now, and go get this book – free for this week.

You can't argue with free!

You can’t argue with free!

The Gospel At Work: How working for King Jesus gives Purpose and Meaning to our Jobs, By Greg Gilbert:  $2.99  A highly rated and much needed book by Gilbert and Sebastian Traeger that asks and answers the question, “is there more meaning to working a job than simply bringing home a paycheck?”

Then Sings my Soul Special Edition, By Robert Morgan:  $2.99  This book has 287 reviews, and over 80 percent of them are 5 star! I’m a history buff, and a bit of a music buff, and this book combines both in an easy to read and inspiring volume that tells the background stories of your favorite (and least favorite) hymns. I love these kind of books!

Dearest Daughter, Become Who You Were Created to Be: FREE   I haven’t read this book, but it is free today, seems solid, and has excellent (94 percent 5 star) reviews on Amazon. Might be worth checking out, but certainly read through it before you give it to your daughter.

Other Books and Deals

The New One Minute Manager by Ken Blanchard and Spencer Johnson:  $1.99  So, I’m not a huge fan of these types of books, but maybe that’s because I’ve never read them. This is, by reputation, a great book to help you learn how to manage your time better. If you buy it and read it, let me know if it is great!

My Antonia by Willa Cather is FREE Today in audiobook form from Audible. This is a classic work of literature that I haven’t read, sadly.

Virtual Reality Viivria 3d Headset: $16.99  If you haven’t dipped your toes into the waters of Virtual Reality yet – YOU SHOULD. It is mind-blowing and amazing. I will never forget the simple thrill of putting on a headset and simply standing in the middle of a static, 3D picture, and looking above me and behind me and seeing things. One of the first pictures I did this with was somebody’s unadorned home library…and it astounded me. Being able to immerse yourself into a 3D video of scuba-diving, or some such thing is that much more impressive. This headset has good (not amazing) reviews, but is a serious step up from a literal cardboard headset. Yes, it has limitations. Yes, the Samsung Gear VR is better (and $80+ more expensive) Yes, the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive blow this away…but if you have a smartphone, maybe it’s time to see what the VR fuss is about, and for $16.99, you aren’t risking a whole lot.

Be sure and check out the Jurassic Park demo of the dinosaur in a forest. You just sit there, but it is amazing!
